It's Evie... (one eye...:)))
She's had a really bad turn over the last week... Lost alot of weight (now only 500g) she's been through so much... But she's such a fighter...!
The vets have got her going again... She was practically in GS... Just lucky I had some emeprid in my house when I noticed everything was going **** up...
But she's looking alot better then a few days ago...

You really deserve some luck Clare and I'm hoping it comes with her, it's awful to see them poorly. x x

Oh I know Evie. Is she the little one that you were concerned about how her eye was stitched? What happened with that? What is emeprid?

:( poor little girlie, sending her all my healing vibes....you're doing an amazing job!

Having a little snooze in my bed after her night time feed...

Her eye is healing nicely...
Emeprid is the oral version of metaclopromide(spelling?) it's a gut stimulant... Bloody brilliant stuff... :)

Bless her, just wanna give her a big cuddle. She's in the safest of hands with you.

Awww, bless her. Hope she's feeling better soon. :laluot_29::laluot_29::laluot_29:
Don't know what's going on with our piggies lately, Wally took a downward turn over the weekend too.
He's still recovering from yesterday's G.A but is also on Emeprid, how long before it kicks in? It's really hard work syringing at the moment as he's just not interested. ( sorry to hijack your thread).

Oh no... :(
What's wrong with wally...?
Emeprid kicks in pretty rapid...
Did they give you two doses...?
One for when he's not eating (a very high dose) and one to carry on with once he's eating again...
How are you trying to feed him...? Might be that you have to try a few way before you can find the best way to force feed him...

Hope he feels better soon...

Thanks Clare. It's his mouth http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=88615
The vet gave him some Emeprid while he was in so I'd assume they gave him a hefty dose then.
I had to give him another when we got home ( 0.45mls) and twice a day for the next 5 days.
I think he'd have a go at food more if his mouth wasn't so sore, he did try with cucumber last night but gave up straight away.
He's never liked being syringe fed and less so when he's still got G.A in his system so it's a bit of an uphill slog. :laluot_11:

Oh bless him...
I've just read through your thread... Have you heard back what they think the sore was...?
Was it on the same side as a spur...? I had a rabbit that needed a dental and when they looked in his mouth it was a right mess... He had these abrasions in his mouth... We think due to the fact that he hadn't been able to chew proply... And about a week or two later he was all better...
So fingers crossed it's something simple like that...!
What size syringe are you using to feed him with...?
Keep perservearing... Your doing a great job so far... I'm sure this is just a minor hiccup the little man will get over...
Is he eating anything at all for himself...?

I've tried the large feeding syringe that the vets use, our small syringes, plastic eyedroppers ( Moonpig likes these for her evening top up of CC), a small egg spoon and my finger.
He seems happiest taking the parsely, grass and cucumber smoothie from the eye dropper in tiny amounts but is completely uncooperative with CC. I keep telling myself he was like this for two days after the last GA and then snapped back to normal but he's 900g now, he was 1100g last time so I'm feeling the need for him to start eating is slightly more urgent.
If he's not eating more tomorrow he'll have to go back to the vets and stay there. I'm not happy about that, when Yoshi went to the vets for extra feeding and intravenous etc they didn't do any better than me. We had to fetch him the next day to take him home and bury him under the apple tree next to Mr M. 8...

Stay positive...!
If he's happier taking the veg then could you mix CC and the veg together...?
Trick him in to taking some fibre in...?
Have the vets given you fibre plex...?
That stuff is amazing...
