Lucky
Just a thread to enquire really, I am not sure there is anything that can be done for Lucky now, considering her age. She will be 6 this year.
Basically, we were told by our vet a couple of years back that she has a benign ovarian cyst. She didn't think it was necessary to operate, since it caused her no pain or bother, just a visible swelling in the tummy area. She's quite big with it, and sometimes looks as though she is pregnant, although this is impossible!
Would an ovarian cyst normally give grounds for a spay for younger pigs? I know this would be far too much of a risk for Lucky now, especially as it causes her little bother.
She is normal in herself, wheeking for food and being inquisitive. However today as I was cleaning them out, I noticed some light pink spotting on the white towel and could see immediately that it was coming from Lucky from inspection of her lady bits as there was still some there.
I remember a couple of years back she passed the lining of her uterus, and the swelling decreased for a period of time before building back up again. I'm guessing the swelling is due to some sort of fluid. Could this be due to happen again?
I'm just wondering if these are the signs of anything more serious, or if what we have previously been told is a load of cadswallop. I have not long been a member of the forum, and thought I might post to see if I can find out anything more about Lucky's condition.
Any info i have missed out, please let me know. I'd love to hear of anything that we can do to help, or of anything that I do not already know!
