Hi everyone... I will be ringing the vets as soon as I am dressed.. went to feed the girls as normal and Pippin was very still - like she was asleep... she let me stroke her with no fuss so I tried to pick her up and she didnt struggle - out of character... gave them their veg.. walked away 😥...

She just seems half asleep... no signs of anything obvious. Any advice would be appreciated - I will be taking her to the vets.. just hope I can her in... quite worried

Sending all good wishes to you and the lovely Pippin. They should see her as an emergency. Big hugs xx

Thanks every one... we got in the vets pretty quick. She has had one injection of Baytril and another injection of Ranitidine
Her temp is a bit low.. nothing obvious found by the vet who did a thorough check..
I have got Baytril, Fibreplex and critical care..
She hasnt eaten since home and even ignored a bunch of herbs I have tried to tempt her with..
Am going to syringe feed her shortly 😥😥 wish me luck and never done it before

Poor Pippin I do hope she starts to feel better soon. The Syringe feeding guide is very good. Although i did end up wearing nearly as much as i got into Milo.

Oh gosh they really do pick their timings but I am glad you were able to get into the vets quickly. Fingers crossed she picks up soon

Good luck with that. Have a good read of the syringe feeding guide which helps demonstrate techniques etc. Complete Syringe Feeding Guide

Have you got some recovery food or is it just mushed pellets you are going to be using?
Thanks @VickiA for posting the guide - saved me searching... I have got a pouch of critical care and then Fibreplex ( which i think i give her before the antibiotics?)

I usually give probiotics 2 or 3 hours after antibiotics, but I think advice differs between UK and US whether to give an hour before or 2 hours after. I think not at the same time is the main thing. Good luck with the syringe feeds, sending festive hugs and healing wheeks- last Christmas Piggle got a UTI on Christmas Eve, these piggies have bad timing! X

Timing can't be helped but Christmas is not a good time - the vets is on the local retail park so i left early as i knew it would be busy! Pippin just looks so sad .. she has eaten a tiny bit of kale but then ignored the rest. I have my works xmas dinner tonight.. just don't feel like going now :(

Is she pooing at all?

If she is not eating would suggest getting some metachlopromide from the vets at home to keep te guts pushing everything through. Sending beautiful Pippin lots of love and you huge hugs, will be thinking of you both
x

she did a few on the way to the vets and did a few - maybe 5 - when she was alone in the cage - i put Winny down on the floor for an hour whilst I tried to temp Pippin with some herbs and I picked all the other poos out so i could see...
I have since put Winny back to see if she can help Pippin but she has just ate everything in sight !

Pippin is just in the back corner, not laid down although she was earlier - i have put hay next to her even though the hay tray isnt far away..

Just awful not knowing how to make her better :( first time she has really been poorly

Thanks everyone... cancelled my work meal - not that fussed anyway as it's all men and 2 women and lots of sport talk ... keep thinking she is eating hay but she isnt... she isnt a fan of critical care either so that's been fun... trying little and often but she is taking water via syringe...

Bless Pippin. At least she has someone who loves her fighting her corner. I have everything crossed for you x

With probiotics it's recommended at least an hour between the antibiotics and probiotic. So either an hour before or an hour after, whichever works best for you. If Pippin isn't digging the critical care I would try some mushed up pellets instead as their usual pellets might be more temptinf

Thinking of you and Pippin, fingers crossed she will be alright x
