Hey, was wondering if any one else has experienced this with there piggies? My guinea pig Pixie had a lump on her side, we took her to the vets and were advised its just a fatty lump! Then a good few months later we noticed that Pixie and her sister were loosing muscle tone and could feel there bones! We bought a worming treatment and treated there brother too. Pixies sister Ditta put her weight back on, while pixies tummy got back to a healthy weight but remained boney! She carried on her normal self singing, playing ate and drank very well!
Then two days ago I went to give them there brekkie and found Pixie in her bed and not well at all! Pixie whilst waiting for the vets to open was holding her head backwards, and running in the air.
Once at the vets he said she was very dehydrated and likely to have gut twist or meningitus. And kept her in to try help her. She then passed. We had her sister Ditta and her adoptive brother Louie checked and he said they were healthy! Ditta and Louie are missing her as we do so much! She was around 2 1/2 cannot be sure as were adopted x

Oh sweetheart, I'm sorry to hear that your first post on the forum is for such a sad reason :(

I don't have any experience with things like that, however finding 'cavy savvy' or knowledgeable guinea pig vets is a very difficult thing in some areas - credit to your vet for keeping her in to find out.
Whereabouts are you located? We may be able to help you find a cavy savvy vet :)

I'm bumping this up for you, hopefully someone can help you. There are a fair amount of veterinary nurses or people who run rescues who are likely to have more experience.
