I just checked my boy guinea pig's bum and there seemed to be something lodged inside around his genitals. Looked a bit like a bit of sawdust but would not come out (didn't want to pull too hard)

Is it just sawdust or could it be something else?
 
Sawdust can become lodged in guinea pigs private parts, which is why some people decide not to use it, but if it's lodged in there pretty tight I wouldn't try pulling too hard! If it seems to be causing piggy any pain or distress, I'd get to a vet asap to have it removed without causing any harm!

To get the sawdust out its not very easy...The guinea pigs muscles seem to tighten around the sawdust and continue to tighten as * pull, but if you continue pulling (gently) the muscles will soon loosen and out comes the sawdust :)) If the area looks soor afterwards, just take a little bit of antibiotic ointment on a Q-tip and put just a little around on the area that looks like it'd be a little soor, and it'll be all better the next day :)

I'm assuming you mean it is stuck in between his penis and foreskin? I have had this happen with hay (sawdust not good bedding for guineas btw). I get a cotton bud and lubricate the area well with olive oil, then gently draw the skin back to expose the penis. Using more oil if necessary. gently pull the piece of material out. If you really cant get it out, do pop to the vet who will remove it for you for minimal charge.

Maybe have a look at our bedding reviews under housing for a more suitable alternative :)
