I noticed my guinea pig has a small red bloody wound, on the side of his nose, the wounded area also smells really bad.

He resides alone and there are no sharp cages in his box. What could this be? He is acting normal otherwise. Thanks.

I did a bit more research and I am thinking it may be an abscess? How can I be sure? Vets cost a lot and I haven't enough money, is there any advice for this?

If it is an abcess he will need a vet to flush it and prescribe antibiotics.

Please can you confirm your location.

Can you post a photo of the wound, if it smells it really needs looking at by a vet. I only work 12 hours a week and my boys have cost me almost a months wage in vet bills as well as two lots of treatment for me too from the doctors but they needed help so I had to find the money :(
You could ring the nearest vets to you (the vet locator at the top will help you) they may be able to offer you a payment plan to help with the cost, most vets charge around £15-25 just see a vet and then they will tell you whats wrong and what treatment is needed before you pay any more.
I hope that's of some help :)

Have you checked to see if you have a blue cross, PDAs or RSPCA hospital? They are for people on low incomes.
