Please Help! Mites?

I really don't wanna seem like a bad owner because I am not as a lot may no I have a boar called Marley he is about 15 weeks and I got him nitnthsy long ago. I brought him out for his first health check trimmed his nails and then I ran through his coat with a flea comb and these yellow bugs weren't massive but were big enough to see were crawling around on the comb I've got a video if it will let me post it but please help I'm a New Guinea pig owner and I don't know what to do ! He scratches a lot since I've had him I've posted the photo of the comb and you can see the yellow things are the bugs

You need to make an appointment with your vet as it would be virtually impossible for us to predict which treatment would work best as it could be mites or lice.

Once you've seen your vet you"ll have to thoroughly clean the cage, and again after each treatment.

Also, make sure you treat all of your pigs.

You could also mention the 'oo oo' ing noise to the vet (I just saw your other post).
 
If you can see tiny worm like things wriggling then it is definitely lice. I hesitated with treatment due to some conflicting information online but Simon at the Cat and Rabbit clinic in Northampton said if you can see them they are definitely lice. Either a lice shampoo or ivermectin drops will help. As mine are outdoor pigs I didn't want to risk wetting them too much so I opted for ivermectin drops from ebay. I have done 2 treatments one week apart so far and they pigs are so much happier now (I have treated them all and scrubbed the hutch with F10 disinfectant). I will do a third treatment to be absolutely sure but their skin already looks better.
 
It is okay we are going to get some live spot on tommotow we found out it was running lice and we need a lice spot on with invermectin this is what I have read online please any more information will be fab about how to apply the lice pot on treatment and how to prevent side effects etc

Thankyou I have opted for the drops aswell I will clean his cage thoroughly. I think he may have got the mites due to being an outdoor pig in his old home but please any info on how you treat your Guinea pigs and how you prevent the lice from coming back would be great and we spoke to a vet over the phone and they clarified it was running lice

I have a video of them but it wasn't letting me post on here we also talked to a vet over the phone and they clarified it was running lice I will change his fleece after treatment and thoroughly disinfect his cage. With running lice can they survive without a guinea pig or will they die without them as I said I'm a New Guinea pig owner but a sensible one
 
Just make sure you dose according to veterinary instructions, using a proper full strength product.
Depending on where you are located, it might be possible to buy a low strength treatment from a pet store which won't cure the condition.
The mites are unlikely to be related to him being kept as an outdoor pig.

We will be using this product is this a strong product? Sorry to have so many questions just want this pesks gone!

I did check on their website, and they don't list the Ivermectin content, so I would say it is probably not strong enough.
Does it say on the box?
Probably the best to use is Xeno which you can buy easily online. Make sure you get the right one for his weight - I use Xeno450 but that is for pigs who weigh over 1kg, and if he is only 15 weeks old that would be far too strong. You are looking for the Xeno 50 Mini
But if it is running lice then you can also treat it with baths using a special shampoo from Gorgeous Guineas.

But if he has lice and you haven't had him for long and he came from poor living conditions, it would really be best to take him to the vet for a full health check before you do anything.
A check up shouldn't be hugely expensive, and it would help to diagnose things properly and also address any other possible problems early on.
Treating for these things yourself is possible, but for a new owner with a new pig it would be much better to do so with veterinary guidance.

The lice won't be a result of being outdoors. He has come into contact with something contaminated. I think mine came from my new pig... one that silly old me didn't quarantine properly but I didn't think at the time.
