My little baby Joy had an ongoing ear infection after having adopted him in December, leaving him with a head tilt, which has significantly improved. A week last Thursday I came home from work and he was awful. Diagnosed with ear infection and conjunctivitis, off his food, he was given baytrill and metacam, plus ear drops and eye drops and on oxbow every four hours. He’s a baby little thing, weighing in at 600-620g. He now has a nasty chest infection. He stayed with a friend this weekend as we had a short cruise booked. And now I have received a call, that after running around yesterday, he has a Nasty chest infection. Please, can anyone suggest anything as we have been advised to put him down, so we are racing back to see him.....

I am very sorry; are your friends familiar with guinea pigs, medicating and round the clock support care?
Complete Syringe Feeding Guide

Would your vet be prepared to try a stronger antibiotic like doxycyline (US) or zithromax (UK, which is a very strong last ditch antibiotic)?

Please ask your friends to syringe feed and water round the clock and add probiotics to help bolster the guts.
They can also steam up the shower and place your little boy in there (obviously keeping him dry) as an improvised nebuliser.
