I just wondered if everyone could send a healing vibe to Mr Wu. He is having bladder stone surgery today. His illness has happened so quickly. Last Friday he was his normal self, lively, coming up for cuddles and eating normally. Then Saturday noticed he hadn't eaten all his vegetables and he had bloody urine so immediately took him to the vet. She diagnosed a cystitis with a possible bladder stone and we went home with meds and decided we would go back for a scan after the weekend. He ate and drank Sunday but Monday although still eating seemed to have less appetite. Took him back to the vet she gave him more pain relief and he seemed more comfortable. He had his scan yesterday and it revealed a bladder stone 0.6cm. Since coming home from the scan his appetite has practically gone so I started hand feeding, food and water as he will not drink by himself. He has not pooed or passed any urine overnight. Taking him to the vet this morning was heartbreaking - I am awaiting a call back to see if he is well enough to have the operation. I just wonder now if I should be putting him through it. This has all happened so fast. My husband says we have to give him a chance. I know you shouldn't have favourites but Mr Wu has a special place in my heart. All my piggies are rescues and he was the first to take food from my hand when they started to trust us. So scared when he first arrived but now loves his strokes and cuddles. He doesn't deserve this.

Fingers and paws crossed here and hundreds of healing vibes on their way x

Sending lots of healing vibes your boys way, hope all goes well x

Thank you so much everyone for you kind wishes for Mr Wu. The vet called back about 45 mins ago and said she feels it's Mr Wu's best chance if he has the op. I know he is in experienced hands - she is the exotics expert at the practice. She should be starting about now. They have given him fluids and have been continuing to handfeed him since he has been at the surgery and said he seems a little brighter. Will post an update when she calls x

The vets just called to say Mr Wu has made it through the op...although he is still a bit drowsy he is awake. The stone measured 1cm. We are hoping to bring him home tonight. Thank you all so much x

Anyone advise on Bladder Surgery Recovery Time - Mr Wu

Can anyone whose piggie has had bladder surgery tell me how long it took them to recover? Mr Wu is still very weak. He is managing to eat very small amounts on his own but it seems to sap all his energy just trying to eat. He will not drink by himself yet so I am syringing water, syringing a paste of recovery mix, crushed pellets etc. every few hours. We went back to the vets for his post-op check today and she said all his vital signs are strong. He is on Baytril, Metacam, and Emeprid. We are back at the vets tomorrow for another check but I though he would be livelier by now. He just seems so tired. I do not know his exact age as he is a rescue but he was still growing when we got him and I guesstimate his age is approx 3yrs. So worried.

oh heck i cant remember exactly but i dont think it took THAT long to actually recover and Pepper was eating quite soon after his.

Sending vibes.

I'm really sorry to hear about Mr. Wu, keep up with the syringe feeds, he'll need 120mls of critical care/recovery food to maintain his weight. Great idea to syringe fluids :)
