Hi all,
I have a problem with one of my male guineas, he is 4 and a half years old......Lately i have noticed (not often) a gross looking poo pile in his hutch.....its a ball of poo stuck together and smells badly and looks like an sprout. Last week i tipped him up and examined his bits and in the end i squeezed out another 'sprout' and today he got uptight about bring brushed and he produced another one........his male mate doesn't to my knowledge have this problem.
Can anyone help and tell me what is causing this.

Thank you :)

It's called 'impaction' and it often happens to older boars - just as you describe, a build-up of softer poops becomes a 'mass' that gets stuck. You'll need to give him a good clean out - turn him upside down and use some vaseline if needed, and clean with cotton wool or similar. A bath might help the first time. If you search for 'impacted boar' or 'impaction' there are probably lots more tips here from earlier posts, but I hope that helps.

You might find he needs doing regularly, is he fit and healthy otherwise?
