So my boy guinea pig has some lumps on his belly. We vet to the vet they took a sample, came back as having skin cells, red blood cells and some fatty cells. The vets think its lipoma. They spoke about surgery but i dont want to put him through surgery if not needed. I already lost two after surgery. He is not is any pain and is happy out. Iv read soo much on what it could be and I keep comimg back to lipoma. I am unsure what to do.

Fatty lumps are very common in piggies and whilst small do not usually cause any problems. I have only put mine through surgery where they have caused problems, i.e. my late Peter had one slightly underneath him and by his back leg which we chose to remove as it was interfering with him running around

My Edward has several fatty lumps which we have chosen to leave and watch. However; he has one in his armpit and if that grows bigger, we will have to have it surgically removed as it will affect his movement. Thankfully none of them have grew since we found them over a year ago

My Shelly has 3 (potentially 4-5 now, I'm sure I can feel more) in her groin near her right nipple which we have left and are watching. I will only consider surgery if they get to a point they start causing her problems with movement. She's had them over a year now and she's still as happy and healthy as ever :)
