Post neuter abscess

Long story short, after many complications and a month after neutering my 5 and ha
F old guinea pig Cookie, he developed an scrotal abscess 2 days ago. It busted open so I found a vet and now I rinse abscess daily and he is on baytril and metacam. I heard baytril doesn’t really work so I have a couple of questions.

1) what dosage of Zithromax (if that is the name of it) would work?

2) what does abscess surgery involve?

3) testicular tumor already regrowing, is this normal even if they said it was benign?

He already been through a lot and I don’t think he can survive another surgery and being put under.
 
Mine was on Metacam when he had an open abcess after Jet bit him on the butt near his willy. Surgery just involes the vet cleaning it out with water so it doesn't hurt. Cloud was put under mild sedation for it. Your pig should be fine with the abcess 'surgery'. Also, i'm sorry that i can't answer your other questions! Hope your piggy gets better! :)

Sorry to hear your piggy has had post surgery complications.

The person to discuss those questions with is your vet. You can also get a secondary opinion. Could you give them another call to discuss your concerns?

Hope your piggy recovers soon!
 
Poor Cookie, abscess can be so painful 😣
Hope the vet can help you decide a way forward for your senior piggy.
 
I know I need to talk to the vet but they are not familiar with Zithromax for guinea pigs that’s why I’m asking for a dosage amount so I can have some info and knowledge when I do talk to vet
 
The name in the US is azithromycin Poor Cookie, hope he is feeling better soon, ask for painkiller Metacam/Loxicom if he hasn’t prescribed some x
