does anyone have any tips on how to keep potted herbs from the super market alive for longer please? we don’t get through a whole plant and half ends up wilting after a few days!

I’ve not managed it either. I think it’s because they are forced and poorly looked after. During lockdown many of us bought seeds and grew our own. They did much better than the shop bought ones but did take a long time to reach cutting stage, so you need to plant them at staggered times to reach staggered maturity.

It’s cheaper and easier to keep if you grow your own.
I happen to have a supermarket potted mint plant (only because my outdoor ones hasn’t started growing yet). I’ve had it for about two months but the leaves are so small. I’m going to put it in a pot outside with the rest

I grew some inside on the windowsill a couple years ago. It did take a while though, but the piggies liked it. I actually prefer it to the packaged one…even though I still don’t like it or use it when I’m cooking

We have sage, thyme, lavender, rosemary and mint in the garden (the mint is in a pot, the others in the ground). Got the sage plant from a boot fair and it’s enormous now! The others from seed.

Basil I’d like to grow but we can’t keep one going long enough to be bothered anymore.

Kingsley is terrified of herbs, especially lavender! Keith can’t get enough!

I've had a few guinea pigs who absolutely loved lavender. I even gave it to them for their Christmas Dinner as a treat. If the run got close to the lavender bushes, they'd get pruned.
