potty training?

Anyone have any luck with this? any ideas how to make it work good? or not worth it?
 
Rarely can you potty train them although people speak of there pigs being trained. I personally don't think it's possible maybe thats just my pigs :))!
 
mine has been great about it actually, but i guess its not alike a dog..
 
my mums boy has the run of the house in the evenings and he runs to a piece of newspaper to wee and poo, but also does the odd poos here and there, but all pees go on the paper, and its amazing really as he is a rescue pig, having said that, we were told that the lady that had him before couldnt be bothered to clean out his cage anymore so the poor guy probably just got used to going in the same place so he could run round the rest of his space.

Arent some people horrible!

He is a lovely boy too, dead friendly, i love him x x)
 
I suppose it is possible but not every piggy will do it lol.
Reggie is pretty good and only seems to do his business in a couple of areas of his cage. But I do clean it out daily. x
 
its nice though because their poops are easy to pick up neway so it makes it kind of easy
 
lol, dont have any dogs running around so that is not a problem for me
 
does anyone have any issue with picking up poops? My gf says its so gross and wont do it? I dont see any probelm with it and have no issue picking them up to throw away
 
It is possible to poop train them, although they will have their accidents now and then, my boys are trained to poop in their litter boxs which are two cleaned out mushroom plastic boxs that i fill with shredded news paper i put them in the corner of their cage and thats where they poop! :) However i dont think its possible to train them to have their widdles in a corner! :)) good luck!
 
mine wee in their pots with an occasional mishap elsewhere in their home.

poops are mainly in their pots but at night they poop in their sleeping area too.
If ellie poops elsewhere she will pick it up herself and put it in the potty, jessica doesnt seem to have mishaps.

I found potty training easy, admittedly they are not perfect due to only having small tummy's. I bought the corner tray bunny size, they both jumped right in so invested in a 2nd one. For the first day I picked up and dropped their poop into the tray, I placed their hay in the tray too so they could sit in it eat and poop. day 2 I continued to pick up and pop in tray then they started getting the idea, they gained a carrot stick as a treat each time they successfully used the potty. Now 8 months on they still have hay in their potty, they bury under the fresh hay to sit then start munching and pooping. I clean the pots 3 times a day, Hubby thinks I could get away with once a day but their hay is in there too so want to keep it fresh at all times.

Ill have to give that a try, Never though of putting hay in the potty bin, we will see how it goes. Thanks!
