The 15 guinea pigs that came to us from a backyard breeder were in awful conditions, and now that they're being taken care of properly, they let you know they're happy! One guinea pig we have is a beautiful red and white abby named Tina, that happens to be very pregnant. But in spite of her pregnancy, whenever you put fresh vegetables in with her and her cage mates, she gets very excited and popcorns around the cage. I also recently discovered she likes the 'guinea pig way' song, and will dance to that. She doesn't do it for very long as she tuckers out rather quickly (her belly is quite large), but when she does it it's hilarious! I know that many stories with rescues can be about how sad and shell-schocked the guinea pigs can be, so I figured I would share a happy one.

OMG that's sooo cute and being pregnant too. You must've done a great job so far, she sounds like a happy little mummy-to-be.
When's the bubs due do you know?
Yep i think it's a cute song, if i need cheering up (and nobody in office of course ;)) i put it on too. Have you seen Bing's website? There's more songs etc on it, check it out :)

Awww. It's fantastic to hear they are doing better. Can wait for pics of all these little piggies.

I got 2 rescue guineas a couple of weeks ago. All went wrong for one I'm afraid, lost the baby/ies but she's OK thank God but another one may be pregnant. She's not fat but when I weigh her, she's put a lot on. She's been doing some popcorning, it's lovely to see but I keep saying to her, now calm down dear, don't overdo it! And she's not even big like yours!

She's got a beautiful shiny coat now which I'm really pleased about.

Look forward to hearing progress reports and how lovely that you've made her such a happy guinea.

That's very good to hear. :) 15 guinea pigs? How is it caring for that many? Do you have many cages or they are okay together?

She hasn't given birth yet, and we're not sure when she will. We suspect she will soon, as she is quite chubby! In fact, one of the guinea pigs just gave birth today to three healthy and beautiful babies, pictures to come! I currently have 21 guinea pigs (the three new ones and I had three in addition to the 15). The hardest part of caring for them is holding them all so they are ready to go to their new homes. Otherwise, it's not much more work that a couple. Well, changing the bedding takes a little longer, but not that much. I have many cages, but with the exception of two adult males (that can't be put together) nobody is alone. The 15 were all in a wire cage that was too small for them, so I don't worry about having more than one per cage. I'll keep you guys updated!

What a cute story! I'm glad to hear how excited she is! I didn't realize what "popcorning" was until today and I'm glad it's a sign of happiness, as mine do it, too! Post pictures of the babies when you get a chance.
