After cutting back a very overgrown hedge at our new house this spring we've now got access to a much enlarged lawn space.

We raked out a load of moss and then re-seeded the area. It's done well, and last week I mowed it for the first time. Since then, loads of wild primroses have grown through and are flowering.

Will it be safe to put the pig run on this area of lawn once the flowers have gone?

Bumping this as I'd like to know the answer too! I've got a feeling Primrose leaves are bad so best not to put run on this bit of lawn but someone else may know more.

Cultivated primrose leaves can give some people contact dermatitis, but the wild one is usually fine, as are the flowers of both. I can't find specific reference to piggies anywhere, but given how common they are as a foraged food (for people and other sensitive animals) I would be more expecting them to be on a toxic food list if there was a problem. So the other way around, if that makes sense?

:) Great thanks. I'm pretty sure the ones in that patch of the lawn are wild - so I won't worry about a massive weed killer blitz on them. I will keep the run away from that patch until they've died back a bit and the lawn has been mown a good few times so that there should only be the tiniest trace of them left in case of nibbling.
