Hey everyone, just thought I would post an update on Princess and Kitty for anyone wondering how they are.

Well they are good thanks! I am very pleased with their progress within the rescue. Today we went and bought them a new cage to solidify their position here - they were still in a smaller hospital cage (100cm) today we bought them a 120cm cage to stay within the home as due to the nerve damage they have suffered they may not be able to regulate their temperature any more so need an indoor home that can keep a very close eye on their skin. So they stay here in the rescue with us, inside.

Here are some photos of their new cage and them

Here they are at the built in hay rack. these girls hate fleece and fleecy beds, they prefer hay and paper much much more, so we are going with their preference. They were previously beeded on straw which was stuck all over them when they arrived - never use straw!

The best face shots I could get

Bums (for Wiebke esp ;) )

Then their position, Dolly and Dotty's cage makes theirs look small don't you think? Not though!

More information on their progress to follow

Thanks for updating us. Glad to see they are doing better. Looking very chuffed with their new cage. :))

They are looking much better, Love the bum shot!

Thanks for the update. I think about these girls often. I'm so pleased to see their skin looking so much better. You have done so well with them. Great cage too.

Kisses for Princess and Kitty. xx>>>xx>>>

Thanks! Kitty has been running laps all night :) I guess she likes it

I have tried to give them a soft snuggly cage but its just not them.

They look so much better! Their skin is really healing. Interesting they do not like fleece. I thought it would be softer for their skin.

There really is no comparison to the way they were, they look so much better. You are taking such good care of them, and how thoughtful to consider that they might not have the same temperature control any longer.

Pat a rodentologist gave me that information. I knew after skin problems so bad that something would remain but didn;t know the medics behind it. I suppose it makes sense though - they had such extensive damage.

WOW Princess and Kitty you look so much more comfortable (not as horrendous sores :0) they're practically blooming in front of your face!
awwwwww bless them, that's lovely that you're accomodating their preferences for hay x)

(my girls adore their hay, but love a snuggly and blankie to cuddle or lie on)

Thanks so much for the update. I can't believe how quickly they have healed up - they look so much better. They're very lucky ladies to have you to look after them. So glad they are feeling much happier x

Thanks for all the well wishes - yes it's funny isnt it because I used to set their cage out half fleece and fleecey beds and half paper and hay and they NEVER went on the fleece, only the paper and hay. I would think too they would want a fleecy spot to snuggle down in but no.

Set back today - they seem back to being really itchy :( I am guessing that the steroids did work after about 5 days of being in their system (not at first though!). I hope its just a blip - we'll see I guess
