Drove over to Walsall after work and picked up Priscilla and Amber today from Vicki. Poor piggies - it was a bit of a nightmare 40 minute drive home down the M6 and the roads in the West Midlands are somewhat potholey at present.

Still the sat on their fleece bed for a couple of minutes before Amber found the box and Priscilla found the food!

Not very good photos but I want to leave them in peace for now. I've put them on the chopped cardboard that I usually keep all my animals on (it wicks away fluid very well and my previous guineas have done well on it) with some fleece areas to sit on but I will decide whether they will be better on vet bed when I've seen them getting around on it for a few days.

Amber is now asleep in the box and Priscilla is sitting right underneath the "rollin the hay" chomping away. It's a new product since I had piggies before but it seems quite a good way of keeping the hay off the floor at least until they pull it all out!

Yay!

Fantastic that you have them home at last. They look like they're settling right in. Looking forward to seeing lots more pics of these gorgeous girlies. x

Congrstulations on your stunning girls! Settling in new piggies is always exciting!

They're funny girls. Priscilla is hyper laid back - although extremely indignant if picked up. Amber is less confident, but still pretty tame. I've got them in the living room as I just want to do a few days quarantine before I move them in with the other animals and they don't seem to care about the telly or us walking past.

They've both investigated all around the cage and tried both boxes out for size. I've never seen two guinea pigs that would share the same box before - in my experience it normally leads to bum biting. They've settled for separate boxes now, but mostly because it gives them more space to get reaaaaally flat.

It was the one thing I forgot to get so they've currently got Basil the chinchilla's wooden house (he doesn't use it a great deal as he prefers a hammock) and a shoe box with a door cut in it. I'll get some more tommorrow and give Basil his back.

:)pGlad you got them home safely, and they are already settling in. The girls are really close and used to share a house here.x)x)

Keep us up to date on how they get on. :))

Decided against putting them out on the lawn this morning as I think they need a little longer to settle in. So I've picked them some long grass and distributed it all over the cage so they have to wander around to get to eat it. Most movement I've seen from either of them since they came :))

I've also put a little gertie in a food ball - eventually they will get the majority of their food in these and have to push them around the cage to get it, but for now they've got a bowl.

I've left the lid off the Trixie Rabbit 150 cage that I have - with the clips on the sides are quite secure, and the sides are high enought to discourage the chinchillas, which is why I got this cage rather than building another C&C, and it makes it easier to get them out.

Well they're settling in nicely.

Had them out on the lawn for an hour or so yesterday and half an hour this evening (it was a bit cool) and they were happily munching away.

Honestly though Priscilla is a bit on the idle side. I wanted to wash her fleece pad this evening and had to physically pick her up and move her off it whilst she squealed indignatly.
