My Guinea pig keeps getting no super soft poos, just one of them, she has been to vet, nothing obviously wrong, she is having a ovarian scan just in case, but vet said try probiotics as she gets diarrhoea from almost any veg. I have read about different probiotics got confused and just bought protum Probiotic paste. Has anyone tried this on guineampigs. One product pro-c professional probiotic powder appears to be mainly sugar (dextrose) ? I don’t see how sugar is going to cure a tummy problem.

Can you do poo soup from her healthy companion? Did wonders for my boy.

How do you know which poos are the ones they eat?

It has now been proven that they do not produce a different type of poop to eat. They only produce the waste poop that you see in the cage and eat normal waste poop.

The guide below explains

Wiebke's Guide to Poops

You need to put the companion in a box, feed him/her some snacks and wait for poop. The moment you see poop, put them in water and soak them for a few minutes. Discard the poops then syringe the water to your poorly piggy.

You can give a commercial probiotic as well as poop soup.
Commonly used probiotics are Fibreplex and pro c

Have you removed veg from her diet?

Thanks guys will try the poop soup and have bought the Fibreplex as it is such an ongoing softnpoo situation. She went to vet today after having basically cowpats yesterday, vet says she is healthy tummy counts good etc it is definitely her not her cagemate with the grotty poos, she has been off veg for 24 hr. We take them off veg it clears up, restart veg even in small amounts and within a few days she has started again. Yet it is all veg they are used to all carefully weighed as per your food page. So maybe she has gut micro biome imbalance which the veg makes worse, will def try the poop soup. Thanks

She probably won't eat it.

I mashed up a fresh poop in water and syringed it to my boy every day for two weeks and his poo was perfect.

I tried feeding it to him in critical care in a dish and he wouldn't eat it.

It may be one particular veg she has a problem with. I would reintroduce veg slowly one thing at a time to test her out. My Timmy can't eat coriander.
