Hi all,

My Vet advised perhaps trying this probiotic supplement with added fibre, as my Yossi seems to have been experiencing some abdominal discomfort and slightly soft poops. He always has an unlimited supply of fresh hay but it sounds like he still may need a little extra fibre. I've tried to give him some bran in the past but he won't touch it (and I can't really blame him!), so these may be a good idea.

So has anyone given this product to their guinea pigs? (the rabbit version) And if so, did it have any effect and how did you administer the pellets?

Thanks :)

not used protexin pro fibre on guineas. if it's extra fibre you need why not try the 'fibreplex' paste (for bunnies) or there's a new 'fibrevore recovery paste' just been brought out which has beneficial fibre in. Both are pastes in a syringe/tube so should be easier to administer than pellets. Your Vet should stock them. (they aren't POM).:)

Thanks Debedee!

The Vet mentioned Fibreplex but as it comes in such small amounts (intended for short term use) she said the other stuff would be a better choice and more economical I guess. The Pro Fibre comes in a massive tub and seems to be marketed as a longer term solution.

I think I'll try again with some bran and see if that makes any difference first and if still no luck then I could at least try the paste to get an idea of whether or not the pellets might work. I'm guessing that these pastes and pellets all contain pretty much the same ingredients, just in different forms/consistencies.
