I’ve only had my two girls for about 2 weeks, but they are both extremely social and love interacting with people and cuddling.
one of my girls, Latte is randomly shooting puffs of air out of her nose. they both appear to be extremely healthy. always eating, playing etc.
the only thing out of the ordinary is that they don’t drink a ton of water (maybe half-of-the-bottle-ish) but i thought that was just because they are only a few months old each and fairly tiny.
she doesn’t do it very often, maybe once a day (2-3 times once)
it’s completely random, too. sometimes it’s her eating, sometimes she’s running around, sometimes she’s cuddling or even looks to be falling asleep when it happens.
if anyone wants to help, itd be appreciated. <3

Hmm not sure about puffing air out of nose, I’ve never heard of it or encountered it. As for water, the veg they eat contains quite a bit. So they may not drink that much. They drink enough for their needs, if that makes sense.

Just had a thought. Do you mean the nose twitches?

it’s definitely a puff of air. i’ve felt it on my arm once while they were having laptime. her body raises almost very quickly like she’s taking a huge breath, then it comes out very fast. and as for the water, thanks for the clarification. :)

Puffing air can sometimes be a warning/extreme irritation/stress sign but if they are content with each other and there are no signs of problems between them that it probably isn’t that.
Maybe hay dust is irritating the nose? That usually manifests as sneezes though.
If you are worried, then do see a vet about it

it really depends honestly :/ i’m not great at reading guinea pigs when it comes to noises they make. Latte (the dominant piggy) seems very protective of Mocha and always wants to be near her. Mocha always cleans Latte and also always wants to cuddle her when sleeping. They both were only introduced a week or two ago, so i think they’re still establishing dominance. sometimes it’s almost like Latte snaps at Mocha, just a really fast movement that startles her. once again though, i’m not great at reading what their noises mean etc. there’s a possibility it’s hay dust, but it also just happens randomly like when she’s cuddling or running.

Skinny pigs do a very distinct huffy nose puff like an angry horse when they are annoyed, but usually there is annoyed foot stamping too, also like a very tiny version of an annoyed horse :)
If it isnt obvious annoyance (you took my bed away to wash and I spent all afternoon peeing in it! How dare you clean my hay tray those were my best poops!) Or there's any wheezing or sneezing then best get a vet check if you are worried x

this reply sounds the most accurate to Latte. she does get annoyed sometimes at her sister because Mocha follows her everywhere. It could be that. :)
