Today I needed to rearrange the playroom so I could build a C&C cage for Ruffle and Magnum, so I thought it was a good idea to put them outside in the run. Ruffle has always loved being outside, but Magnum is only 6 weeks old and hadn't been out before.
As I put him in the run, I turned to the children and said 'I hope he won't be able to get through those bars'. Before I had finished the sentence, Magnum had run right across the run, out through the bars and halfway across the garden mallethead
Luckily he then paused to see where he was, and I pounced and grabbed him. But I felt really bad that I hadn't thought to check properly before I put him out there.
In the end I put the top half of a cage on the lawn and put Magnum under that, knowing that he couldn't get through the bars. But Ruffle is rather large and wouldn't fit, so they ended up in separate runs, which didn't work because Magnum kept squeaking and trying to get to Ruffle 8...
I got the C&C built double quick, and reinforced it with some panels with narrower bars, just in case, and they seem very happy in there now, so alls well that ends well.
