so about a month ago I noticed 2 small smears of blood in my cage, I have had a piggy with a UTI before but this blood is certainly thicker as was like a tiny pencil eraser clot/smear. I rushed her to the vet who examined her and said it could be from her cycle and she may need to be spayed eventually, it didn't happen again so she told me to call if I saw more for antibiotics. Now today it happened again, one tiny smudge of blood on her fleece. I have been taking her to a exotic specialty vet but now I'm worried she's missing something. I will call her in the morning and see what she recommends but she is nontender on palpating and behaves normally, eating great and still picking on her cagemate. I am in my last semester of nursing school so am going to be broke for at least 3 more months so if she wants to do surgery I may have to wait. I am just unsure of just waiting as this is the first time I have noticed this and I have 4 piggies but I am also unsure of what I can afford tx wise and was hoping others would have experiences to share.

I am not an expert (although I am sure one will be along shortly) but has she had a urine sample checked?
If she hasn't had a course of antibiotics, that might be a good place to start, just to rule out underlying infection.

Many years ago I had a guinea pig with pyometra who did need to be spayed, but her symptoms were much more severe than the odd small blood clot. To make matters worse she was initially in very poor condition (a rescue from a breeder-hoarding situation) so we had to wait a few weeks to try and build her up a bit before the surgery. I think with proper care and monitoring if she does need surgery it can possibly wait a few more weeks - just see what your vet suggests.
And it also might be worth explaining your situation to the vet and asking about the possibility of a payment plan?
