Alrighty, I seem to have gotten myself into a bit of a pickle. To make a long story short, a cat won't stop meowing at my door so I let him in. Just to cover all bases, The cat has had no contact with the guinea pigs and extreme care is being taken to quarantine this new little stinker I got. I am currently putting up fliers to see if this little guy has got an owner and it just got lost. Okay so here is my problem, I kinda love him. So if he is not claimed, I am considering keeping him. HOWEVER, my OTHER two little stinkers are my priority. I want to ensure that the guinea pigs will not have any reduction in quality of life if I decided to keep the cat. So my question is what preliminary precautions should I take to ensure that this new cat wont cause any problems for the guinea pigs. If it just isn't reasonable, its not the end of the world, I would make sure the cat finds a good home. BUUUT again, kinda love him. Unfortunately I dont have an large enough place to have the cat not be in the same room as the guinea pigs without confining him to something that I would consider too small.
