So everybody knows my skinny pig moose. I adopted him the day before Easter today he’s getting fixed because I want him to be able to have a friend. He’s never been with any other guinea pigs before I adopted him. He’s only a year old. I have three other guinea pigs one male two females I was wondering if I took one of the females and bonded him with one of them if that would be OK or if I should keep my three that are bonded together and just get another guinea pig for him I just wasn’t sure if taking one of my females out of the trio was the right thing to do please let me know. I know he has to heal before I can get another piggy anyways I just wanted to know what I should do. Thank you so much everybody for always giving me good advice.

Hi

Please wait 6 weeks after the operation until he is safe. The little baby in my avatar picture on the left is the unplanned daughter of a supposedly safe over 5 weeks post neutering op boar (not one of mine, I would like to add). Just as first-hand proof that it can really happen as late as that.

Two boars (neutered or not) do not work with two sows; you can only ever have one boar with any number of sows, so yes, please split your sows and create a second permanent pair, ideally by introducing the under-sow to your new boar for a better success chance. She may appreciate the rise to becoming a First Lady of her own mini-group more than you taking out the reigning First Lady and causing a renewed hierarchy and group re-establisment in your ex-trio. Ideally you do not want to deal with both pairs in flux at the same time.
If the bonding with the under-sow fails, then you can try the current First Lady and see how that goes - the success chances will be even less good.

I hope that this is helping you.

That’s perfect 👌 thank you so much that’s what I was thinking putting my little girl olive who’s the under pig with moose my First Lady Lulu always picking on her so I’m sure olive would live being the First Lady of her own cage 🫎💕🫒again thank you for all the great advice and support

So if my younger female and my neutered male don’t bond well I’m going to then try my older female with him but she’s the head piggies right now in the trio I have Is that a good idea or does someone have a better idea
