My boys are indoor piggies and live in a RABBIT JOE on wheels cage. I dont know the measurements to be honest and as I have no clue how to download a photo... so I cant show you what it looks like..but.....

I am Just wondering if any one is aware of this model and could tell me if in the long term it will be ok for housing my boys!

They are 5/6 mts at the moment.

Yes, that is the one! When it was sold to me I was told it would be perfect for 2GP ...the lying sods..and I paid a fortune for it!

Could any body recommend a cage on a stand or wheels as my boys live in the kitchen and i need to keep them off the ground..if you could post a photo of a suitable cage that would be sooooooo great!

Thank you for your help!

Is this The Cage For Me!

Thanks for your great ideas!

I came across this cage on zooplus.ie

Essegi Rodent Cage Baggy 120 2 storey (sorry I didnt attach a photo...another thing that I have yet to master!)

I wonder if anybody out there has this type fo cage and can tell me if it will be suitable for me boys!

It looks greats and bigger that what the lads have now...but as I am really bad at measuring and I have no clue if the overall size of it is suitable..

I worried thou about the ramps...are they safe? Would they run the risk of harming themselfs running up and down the ramps..or worse...fall off them!

It should be fine but bear in mind Some pigs dont like ramps :)) It would be great if you could get the cage but you probobly will need to get the measuring tape out :))

My lads at the moment have a wooden Hidey Hole that they jump up and down on when ever the mood takes ...so I dont think they would have a problem going up...not so sure about them going back down!

Did you buy your cage yet?

No But I will be getting it in december, i have ordered from them before and there great.

I really dont like those 3 story cages, the ramps are very steep for GPs and if they fell through the hole for the ramp in the top level they could quite easily fall right to the bottom.

I have considered this and am switching back and forth :))

For sizes when you have you tape;

4ft x 2ft = 48in x 24in = 121.9cm x 60.9cm ... but obviously you can go larger if you have the space/finances!

So the two storey cage you are looking at is twice this size (it is 120cm x 53cm, but then two levels) but as a rule, only one floor level is counted because, for example, if your piggies never went upstairs then there is no point counting it as floor space because it is never used.

The cage looks great, but I would make a side to the ramp for safety, but it does look steep so they may not use it. I was thinking that if I get more piggies in the future, it would be a good space saving option, but I was going to block off the hole for the ramp and us it as two cages for seperated piggies.

For a cheaper version you could go for this one. I know that a few people on here have meationed that they have this and is good value. I haven't ordered from zooplus myself but I've not read of anyone having any major issues.

EDIT! Actually, please ignore that link, I've just noticed that you are in Ireland and they don't deliever that particular cage to Ireland for some reason? I'll leave the link in though incase someone in a county they will deliver it to browses through. Sorry about that!

I have look on the Seapet website since and I came across this

Guinea pig cage 150 & stand.
L150 X W75 x H 62cm

I strongly thinking of ordering this cage for the lads as I know it is bigger than what they have at the moment which is (the Rabbit Joe) L106 x W56cm x H59cm and I want to get them a home that will last them!

If you can afford it, go for it! Mine (the 120 one) is a very good cage. It also came with two removable shelves, one for either end, and ramps (my piggies wont go up them though), a hayrack that fits outside, a plastic corner food bowl and a water bottle (although it was rubbish, I didn't use it because it leaked!). It is very well made, the bars are fairly think metal and don't bend easily and the tray is deep so no kicking out poops over the floor!

I'd say go for the largest you can afford, I'd like the 150. Get a tape measure out though before you order so you know it will fit where you plan because it will be very large!

:)p
