Rabbits with guinea pigs

I have had my Georgie in with my bunny since I first brough him home. That was about 4 years ago and the thought of separating them just feels wrong. Then Shadow came along and she too is happy to share with the bunny but like I said they have their own space and they have their own bed to go in which the bunny is too big to get in.The bunny goes to the top of the hutch and sleeps in her bed.I let them out alot too but they always end up all together in the garden somewhere playing and eating the grass.I think as long as they have their own space it can work well I love watching them eating their dinner together,They always share and I have never seen anything that has worried me,I would separate them in a instant if it did.

My friend had a rabbit living with a guinea pig for approx 4 years & all was well, Casper (gp) would sit on Gizmo's (rabbit) back & they were the best of friends until one morning she went out & Casper looked like he'd been steam-rollered; he was literally 1/2" wide :o
My friend thought he'd died of "natural" causes & that Gizmo had somehow stamped on him to "bring him round" so she got another piggie, Tekno. Within 6 months the same happened, only this time she witnessed it - Gizmo literally stamped all over the poor piggie, by the time she got outside (seconds) it was too late. :'(
Why did Gizmo do it? No-one knows but her lesson was learnt & she felt so guilty that she'd more or less sent poor Tekno to his death!
Now i'm not saying the same thing WOULD happen, only that it COULD for whatever reason.

When my silly vet told me to get a guinea pig to put with Pippa my bun, I told her that with one stamp Fudge would go splat as she's got one powerful stamp, I was half joking though, but after reading that I feel awful, the poor guinea pigs :'(

It was Kathryn, i have never seen anything like it in my life, nor do i want to again, the poor piggie looked just like a cardboard cut-out :'(

So so sad Nikki! But proof of what we have been worried about in this thread. Bunnys dont mean it but even the nicest of Bun Buns can have an accident. Those bag legs are huge and powerful! Thanks for sharing this Nikki.

You're welcome Susie :) I'm not trying to scare people who have buns & piggies together, this is just one story of what "could" happen :(

Myself & my friend, still, to this day wonder why she did what she did :-\

I went to local zoo today as my children have been beggin 4 ages ,it personally makes me very sad but they wanted to ,last day of half-term and all that!
Anyway all very nice until we got to the "farm" area pygmy goats, pigs and,
rabbits With guinea pigs!
Not only that but a youngster prob 3 wks next to a massive rabbit,I had to say something didn"t I?,even though my youngest daughter was beggin me not to embarass her again!!
One of the young girls helping said that the rabbits never hurt the piggies I tried to explain but to no avail,I am writing to the zoo to get this stopped!!!I really wanted to take the mummy and baby piggy but knew that was wrong, but may"ve been tempted if I had'nt had the children with me.
Can"t stop thinlin about that poor little mite.
Also saw a big rabbit bein carried off, looked v.poorly, might've been a coincidence but did make me wonder if the small pets were gettin the right care.
All other animals incidentally looked well ,and with my limited knowledge seemed to have the proper care ,except for not havin enough space ,oh and of course not bein wild!!Marmots espec cute reminded me of my piggies!!

Sally your story reminded me of a time me and my mouth got carried away, we were visiting a local farm we got to the cafe which was next to the pets corner and this lad of about 10 a big lad was stomping about in the run he picked up a pig then dropped it before i knew I shouted at him (2 disappering kids and hubby later) I said oi you what do you think you are doing he was then trying to grab the pig that had run away to hide, leave the poor thing alone you've hurt it I was making so much noise about it >:(that a lady from the cafe came out and asked how she could help, I was mad as hell as this damn kid was ignoring me ( to be honest i wanted to grab the little 666) and drop him on his head) >:( I shouted at the woman if you cant keep your animals safe i will be reporting you to the RSPCA, well luckly another family also complained and was backing me up, she went to the lad and told him to get out and that he was not allowed in the run, the boys dad came over and said my son has ADHD well like a shot i said my 3 boys have it and would still never treat an defenceless animal the way your son has and maybe you should be watching him a little better, they tried to calm me down by saying they would now make sure only children accompanied by parents would be allowed in the run, I said I would still ask the RSPCA to check them out, apparently a sign now says just that, having ADHD or anything like that does not give a child permission to ill treat anything , >:(
