I had hoped to make a block but the doors I have been given proved a nighmare to work with, so.... frustrated, with no plans, just a mad woman with power tools I set upon the remains of someones kitchen they had kindly donated to make at least one hutch out of the pile of unwanted wood that had been making my house look like a builders yard through all this grotty weather.
Several hours (other half inside playing on Xbox avoiding the mad guinea woman on a mission lol he knows to leave me to it by now and that I won't stop til I am done) and a few new holes in my hands later the following 4ft by 2ft was the result, the main door sticks just a little and it needs a little lick of paint on the white bits but for a 99.8% recycled hutch (including all screws and fixings but not the mesh as that is the only new bit on it) I think it has come out ok ;D 3 hours of work but well worth it... free laminate wipe clean hutch O0
AWESOME O0 O0 O0 O0
Gosh you are determined, good on you love O0
awwwwwwwwww i know what going to happen when they see the new hutch piggies allert they will be popcorning around when they hop in :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Eco friendly is the way to go all our bedding goes to a local muck heap ;D and hutches that are actually 2ft wide are hard to come by so would rather build one and it cost me nowt!
I love my DIY I even have a pink tool kit lol!
Brilliant Vikki! A local muck heap how did you find that? Would be interested if there was one in Liverpool. I hate bagging it up, I've been putting it on the compost but it will smell come summer.
That is absolutely amazing! I really wish I could be a bit more handy, I got my dad to build me a guinea pig run (I am 30 incidently!) I am determined to have a go at making my own hutch in June when I think about getting some more guinea pigs (I'm hooked!) going to try and get some rescue pigs next, I love looking after mine and making sure they get everything they need, I can't bear the thought of other piggies going without! :'(not when I can provide a good home for them!
Thats fab, my hubby bought me an old sideboard that was 5ft long that had been chucked out of a 2nd hand store he bought it home we fixed it up as a hutch its brilliant
Its amazing what you can reuse from next to nothing
