Today is December 3. I've had Salvatore 43 days. Today, God bless 'I'm, he weighs 1025 g. That's still nearly 9 g/day. To me, that is proof that the poor little thing was just not getting to the food and is why he looked so horrible.
Red weighs 1175 g. Sal has almost caught up, there's only 150 g difference.

I had them together on my chest and lap tonight while watching television. They were both purrrrrrrrrrrrring loudly. Sal kept trying to get under Red. I did not know if that was the precursor to a fight, so I didn't let that happen. Red sniffed Sal at both ends, and Sal was really interested in the inside of Red's left ear. Sal did go over and lick my arm for a few seconds. I wish I were brave enough to let them do what they want while holding them, but I can just imagine me coming out on the bloody end of a guinea pig fight. Besides, Sal has bitten Red before, so I know the danger is there. Anyway, the pigs are doing well, thank you. OH - I tried cilantro instead of parsley; Red won't eat it, but Sal will eventually. They both prefer parsley.

They're both doing really well with you, they are turning into 2 handsome piggies. ;)

Well done Pat and the x) Boys!

Awww sounds like they're doing great. :) My girls always stick their heads under each other. I'm not sure why they do it, I think its if they get a little scared and have no where else to hide. It can cause the one getting hidden under to get a bit annoyed though so its probably good that you stopped it if they're still bonding.

Sal is one very lucky little piggle to have been rescued by you Pat, you have done an incredible job with him x

Aww they are doing so well. When a piggy tries to get under another it means they are snuggling! That is just so cute. They seem such good friends.:)

Great that they both are doing really well - (ear) licking and trying to snuggle up etc. is actually an offer of piggy friendship, so the signs are actually very positive.

If hiding under each other is snuggling then my Sookie really is a grumpy guts. She always nips Sherbert when she hides under her :( I always thought it was because Sherbert is Sookies daughter and never got out of the habit of hiding under mummy rolleyes

I'm glad to read that. I got the impression that Salvatore was trying to do both things, to snuggle and to hide. He kept trying to get as close to Red as possible, and then he would try to go under. I also got the impression that Redemption was about to be annoyed by the way he leaned his body away and said a little squeak when Sal did that. So though I want to encourage closeness, as I said, I didn't want to be in the middle of a guinea pig fight, so I kept them apart. That's when Sal went over to my arm and started licking. That still feels weird. I guess maybe it is because their tongues appear to be so smooth.
