Remembering Henning.

We were absolutely devastated to have to say goodbye to our lovely Henning on October 18th. He was such a loveable, gentle character who was always first in line for food and treats. When he began to show less interest in eating we knew something was wrong. Despite visits to the vets along with round the clock attempts to nurse him back to health he became too weak and the vet thought something nasty was lurking inside. At the age of nearly three years old we had to help him over the Rainbow Bridge so that he could be at peace and no longer be suffering.
Henning you were with us for far too short a time but we treasured every single day we had with you. You were so gentle and everyone who met you thought you were absolutely gorgeous and wanted a cuddle. We hope we were able to bring you comfort and will miss you so very very much. You will always be with us and within our thoughts and hearts.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I still miss Henning every day and the pain of this is not going away. The support of people who understand the loss of these beautiful animals is so important and is of great comfort even through the darkest days.

Grief takes time and it’s been barely a month since you lost Henning.
Be patient with yourself as you live through the darker days of grief.
In the midst of it , it’s hard to think that this will lift.

Grief is an ongoing process. It’s the price we pay for loving these beautiful creatures. Go gently with yourself. Your grief is still fairly new and raw. You will of course miss him greatly, but in time you will learn to remember the happier times. That’s not to say you won’t still shed tears for him - that is natural, too.
