A few weeks ago one of my sows had on and off soft poo and runs and a tender tummy. Vet gave metacam and fibreplex and a week later we took her back as it started up again so they did an x ray which showed gassy areas but nothing sinister (yay) she also got more fribreplex we lowered her veg a lot and haven't been letting her out on the grass, she's been mostly OK since with the odd soft poo then last night started with full on runs on and off again as some are just a bit soft others fully runnny. We have withheld veg and she is on pro c but still has the runs, there's more of the runs this time too. What do we do next? I will try to attach a picture. She has plenty of Timothy hay and burgess pellets. She does balloon up even with the slightest bit of veg so I think the problem is gas. Thankyou

Maybe try a grain free soy free pellets.
That may help.

Hi and welcome!

I would recommend to have a faecal float done to see whether there is something specific causing the problem that your vet and you can then target properly and get rid of since the problem has come back, and come back worse. How old is your sow?

I think I willl call the vet today for advice, we lost our cat to Lymphoma a week ago today so was really hoping not to have to go back so soon x

Update, vet has wrote up some more fribraplex we can collect tomorrow and said if it persists or gets worse to take her in for a check, I weighed her two days ago on my kitchen scales (manual ones) and she was 1.2, yesterday aa smidge under 1.2 and today 1.15, I'm thinking this may mean she may need that check, my other piggy is completely fine, I think nuggets issue is to do with the gas, she eats the. Tiniest bit of veg (we've cut her right down) puffs up like a balloon, gets kinda of crackly breathing for around an hour then passes wind and seems fine then in the evenings gets either complete runs or weird soft thin poops 🤦‍♀️

We had a sow in the rescue a while called Tina who used to bloat up terribly (although no runny poos). Nothing seemed to work until we switched her to a grain free nugget and she never bloated up again. Grass always seemed to cause her troubles though so she has "grass" time on a towel in her new home haha :)
Might be worth trying with your piggy too!

Hope you manage to find the problem and get her sorted. Fingers crossed its nothing serious.
Sending hugs.xx

Bless her, poor little girly. Good luck at the vets, sorry you’ve got to go back so soon after losing your cat xx

Shes on a veg ban and fibreplex and had some syringe feed first day, poop is still soft but not runny anymore, also my scales must be dodgy because she was only actually down 20g 🤦‍♀️ her and her bonded sow have been a bit fighty since the issue started a few weeks ago, I'm wondering if it could be stress, also could she grieve the cat, they used to cuddle together on my knee and touch noses through the cage (never unsupervised don't worry but he was a softy and more scared of her than she was of him 🙈🙈) xx
