We have a respiratory infection affecting 2 of the 8 pigs. They are currently on antibiotics. We sadly lost George (heart problems) and Rose (seizures) recently so would be looking to adopt a successor to George at some stage. How long do we need to quarantine the group for after symptoms have cleared?

The usual quarantining time is 2-3 weeks before you can go dating. It is always tough when there is an infectious issue involved with a death. :(

We just went through this with Hadley. The vet wanted her to be symptom-free off antibiotics before introducing her new friend. We had a situation where she would clear up on antibiotics, then have symptoms start again within a few days of stopping, hence the requirement that she be off antibiotics without symptoms for a week first. This ended up being about 4 weeks, as she was on antibiotics for 20 days, then the week off before we did introductions.
