Hi, I'm unable to send a video recording of the noise but if a guinea pig is making a noise that goes away and comes back when should you take them to a vet? She doesn't make the noises regularly or constant so I'm not sure if it's respiratory or just something stuck in her throat? She's still active and eating. I've pat her on the back, massaged her stomach and picked her up to try and help but it's been on and off since about 5am this morning.
We had a similar problem with my elderly guinea pig Pepper a few years ago but it's a different sound this time and I reckon the noise was respiratory due to her old age. When we had taken Pepper to the vets since it was an on and off noise they didn't find anything.

It's always best to get it checked out if it's more than a quick one off. I took Fizz to the vet yesterday for this type of noise when eating. The verdict was that he sounds fine at the moment but to keep an eye on it because it can be a symptom of respiratory disease and to take him back if he shows any other symptoms or keeps doing it.

Hi

Our forum runs on voluntary member donations and on us all doing this for free in our own free time. We are not part of social media (we pre-date its rise) but it means that we have full control over our place. Unfortunately, this also means that you will have to upload your videos on a public setting on a platform without a membership sign-in and then copy across. We recommend youtube as it seems to work for most of our members.

If problems are recurring, then I would also recommend to contact your vets again.
