My guinea pig Mochi had an accidental litter of pups two days ago. One was a still birth and the other made it through and we named it Butters. I came home last night and noticed she wasnt looking very good. Posted my first post in the forum about it. Today after dropping my fiance off to work and calling to schedule an appointment at the vet i looked in her cage and Butters was already gone. She was laying next to her mama unresponsive. I feel so dumb for being so upset after two days after everything ive read about birth complications and difficulties i thought id be prepared for something like this but I'm just as heart broken. And poor Mochi lost both of her pups.
If Butters was in any pain, she can be at peace now and popcorn with her sibling.
Bye bye Butters. Ill still miss you.

BIG HUGS

I am so very sorry for Mocha and you!

There is nothing more heart-breaking than a little one that stumbles into life just to stumble out again... Your experience is shared by most rescue people; losing babies and mothers in birth is one of the emotionally most taxing and lowering aspects of all difficult jobs that they do. :(

Butters was a real cutie; she has known love and care, and her short life was not in vain!

RIP - Popcorn free at the Rainbow Bridge, Butters and sibling! I hope that your next attempt will be happier!

PS: Here is our grieving advice, which you may find helpful. Babies steal our hearts with their cuteness; losing them can really punch you in the gut!

No need to feel dumb, any loss is hard ❤ back when I had my first herd, we had an accidental litter of 6 during a heatwave, 5 were stillborn and I grieved just as hard as if id had them their whole lives.

I'm so sorry for your losses, I hope momma piggy does well.

I am so sorry for you losses, massive hugs to you at this sad time x

Sleep well little ones

RIP Butters & Sister

So very sorry to hear that you have lost both babies.
Even though her life was so short Butters deserves this lovely tribute.
Every life is unique and special.
Be kind and gentle with yourself as you grieve
