this is my first loss of a guinea pig and the pain is tremendous.. i covet any advice, as his brother is now alone.. i need a day to grieve, but want his brother chris to be as comforted as possible during this time and am going to be searching for a new cage mate option for him. thank you.

i’m distraught, heartbroken beyond words. cooper was my baby, my sweetest, most tender guy. he loved to plop down for pets and give me kisses. he was always the first to greet me when i walked through the door and you could hear his “wheeks” for food from a mile away. i adored him and i am utterly destroyed right now. there will never be another cooper and i’m so blessed to have had the honor to care for him these past few years. the bond you have with a prey animal is so incredibly special. cooper is survived by his brother, chris farley, who will miss him so much. i love you cooper pooper.

So sorry for your loss.
These gorgeous little creatures do leave huge holes in our hearts so be patient and gentle with yourself as you grieve for Cooper.

I know that in the USA. rescue options are less common than in the UK, but if you do have one accessible to you that would be a good place to start looking for a companion for Cooper’s brother.

Losing a much loved pet is never easy and I am so sorry Cooper had to leave you. He would have known how much he was treasured but grief can be overwhelming for a time, so look after yourself at this sad time.
