Sadly my fudgie has passed away leaving a very sad Frankie on his own. I would like to share all my lovely pictures and the story of how I came to have this wonderful pair of Guinea pigs :)

I got Frankie as a baby from a petshop that was closing down, he was the last one left and he was reduced to £5, he was not in very good condition, he had a ripped ear and was covered in cuts and bruises all over his back! So I decided I had to have him, this is the first time I've ever had a pink eyed Guinea pig and he's gorgeous! We had him a couple of weeks and realised he wasn't happy, he didn't really like anything in life and used to hide away all the time and I thought getting him a friend would cheer him up.

One day me and my boyfriend were layed in bed talking about how sad baby Frankie was and my boyfriend looked on gumtree and called an ad up, I didn't know what he was doing but he said to the lady "do you still have your Guinea pig?" And she said "yes" so he said "is it a boy or a girl" and she replied "it's a boy!"

So off we went to collect fudge, there were no pictures of him on the gumtree ad so I didn't know what to expect, all I knew was that he was being given away for free! I was really excited but I was also worried, incase the Guinea pigs didn't get along! It took around 40 mins to get to fudges house and and had to call the lady up afew times as we got lost! Then eventually we pulled up outside and the lady said "you will have to park down the side road."

When we got inside the house, it was so dirty and stunk of fags and sweat! It was one of the most horrible places I have ever been in! Then there on the kitchen worktop I noticed him, a brown, white and caramel coloured Guinea pig and he was massive! I asked what his name was and how old he was and she said " his name is fudge and he's around 2 or 3". My boyfriend said "do you want him then" and I said "yes!" So as my boyfriend went to fetch the car the lady told me I could take his cage too as he had come with it when her friend gave him to her, but my boyfriend said "that f'in cage is not coming in my car it stinks! Just get the Guinea pig and let's go!" I told the lady that I would send her lots of pictures and let her know how he's doing and she said okay.

So off we go back home, fudge sat on my lap all the way home as good as gold not even 1 poop! I was in such a rush as I was at work later that day so I wouldn't have much time to bond them. When I got home i was so excited and scared, I was in such a rush to let them get to know, I just wanted them to meet eachother, I put them both on the floor and they were chattering their teeth and rumbling at eachother I was so scared they hated eachother, but my mum, brother and boyfriend said they would watch them while I was at work. I was panicking all night at work I didn't want to call home incase it was bad news and they'd had to be separated.

But when I got home from work I walked in and found Frankie and fudge in the same cage snuggled up together! I couldn't believe it! I nearly started crying I was that happy!

Over the next few weeks Frankie really came out of his shell, he started eating new foods and was popcorning and doing zoomies with fudge it was so lovely to see, but there was 1 problem. . . Fudge was like a wild animal! He attacked our hands, made us bleed, ran away all the time. I really felt like I had fixed one problem and ended up with another problem! But I did not give in to fudge! I handled him everyday with a thick dressing gown on so he couldn't bite my skin, I gave him all the attention I could possibly give anyone even to the point I felt like Frankie was getting no attention at all! But after months and months of getting to know him, giving him love, attention, cuddles and kisses I had created the the perfect Guinea pig ❤️
He was the love of my life, big, fat and cuddly! Instead of biting he licked instead. I know he loved me as much as I loved him! He was a little angel ❤️ he would come and sit on my knee when he was playing on the floor and when I shouted him he would wheek to me like he was saying hello mummy ❤️

Here we all are having a cuddle on the sofa :)

I had fudgie for just 15 months when he left me and Frankie for rainbow bridge. I found him huddled up in a corner of their cage shaking and cold. When I picked him up he was limp but still alive, we rushed him to the emergency vets who said they think he's had a stroke or heart attack, I asked the vet to save him because I don't know what we will do without him and she took him into the back and said she would put him on some oxygen. She came out afew mins later and said I'm sorry he's gone.

I can't stop crying I feel physically sick when I think about it I love him so much and I don't know what to do without him. I know it's only been afew days but I can't stop thinking about him and missing his smell and his warm body buried into my face, he had brown nostrils and lips with a little pink patch on the bottom one, he was absolutely gorgeous and I dont think I will ever get over him and I don't think Frankie will either he's gone back to how he was when I first got him. After all the bad things fudge had being through, passed from home to home and given away for free on gumtree just because he bites is so upsetting because when I got him I saw how loving and caring he was and I think he only used to bite because he was scared and not because he was nasty. I used to text his previous owner to tell her how he was doing and send her pictures and not once did she bother to text me back, not even when I told her he passed away. I just don't know how someone could be so cold when it comes to him I really don't he was the love of my life and I will never get over him and I don't know what to do

RIP FUDGIE ❤️ I LOVE YOU ALWAYS XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

what a lovely story, sounds like you rescued him from a awful home and he soon learned to love you... so sorry for your loss xxxxx

Such a beautiful pig, it's clear how much he was loved and he'll be dearly missed.
It's absolutely normal to feel like this, you've lost your friend, who you loved and he loved you back.
My first pigs passed away 10 years ago and I still think about them to this day.
It does get easier with time, but everyone deals with grief different, just take time to deal with it and cope with this loss.
You've got Frankie to care for, who will be struggling too. And when you are both ready you can look at getting him a new friend. That doesn't mean replacing Fudgie though

What a beautiful tribute. Fudgie may have had a very tough start in life but he was obviously thrilled to have found his home with you and Frankie. I'm so sorry you didn't have longer with him. RIP Fudgie. Hugs to you x

I am very sorry for your loss!

Fudgie had the best of lives with you and Frank. You can;t control how long you have a piggy, but you can give them a happy time while they are with you. You have done that.

Fudgie will always live in your heart and your precious memories.

Thank you, I just really miss him so bad, I can't stop crying about him. I just miss everything about him. He was so loving I've only ever had 1 other one that was as loving as him. I keep hearing Frankie wheeking at night so keep putting him in bed with me. I feel so sorry for him and I think seeing him so upset is making me feel worse. I just wish he was here. I keep crying and then laughing when I think about him because he was so funny, when the white fur stripe down his nose was brushed to one side he looked angry so I used to brush it back straight again to make him look happy, he was just adorable, then when I laugh about his angry wonky stripe I start crying because I think of how funny he was and that makes me miss him even more X

I am so sorry for your loss. I know how painful it is and how raw that pain is at the moment. It does ease with time I promise and the pain is replaced by happy memories.

That was a really beautiful tribute to your gorgeous boy. He sounds like he had a rough start in life but then he found you and frankie and from then on was so utterly loved and cherished.
He had the best life ever with you and was so happy and you are a credit to him for giving him a wonderful home.

Massive hugs to you and Frankie.

Sleep well handsome boy

RIP Fudgie
x x

Really loved reading their story... I'm sure he really loved being with you and Frankie. Even if he had a hard life at first, he found happiness with you <3
I'm deeply sorry for your loss. Sending you tons of hugs.
Popcorn free Fudgie x

I just don't think we will ever get over him. It was like he was ment to be here with us, from the day they met they never fell out, he changed Frankie and he changed himself, they both grew into happy loving piggies. I just feel sick all the time and I keep dreaming about him and waking up and he's not there. Is it normal to feel like this? I don't know if I can have another one because I don't think I can deal with it when they pass away but I feel like I can't leave frank on his is own for much longer. My mum said you can't go through life never having something incase it dies because that's going to happen to us all no matter what we do and how careful we are in life, even if we wrapped ourselves up in cotton wool it would still happen and I do understand that it will eventually happen anyway but it's just the pain when it does. I just need to do what's best for Frankie and I do think getting him a friend would be for the best he loved playing in the garden with fudge but I don't want to feel like I'm replacing fudge x

It's completely normal for you to feel that way. Sometimes there are piggies that for some reason are closer to us than others (and that doesn't mean you don't love the other ones!) and its more difficult to feel better after losing them. I lost Teddy on january, and I can tell you that I still cry when I think about it. And like you, I don't think I will never get over him. I also had a hard time when he passed away, for a few days I could barely eat, and my stomach was a mess for a whole month... But it gets better, and you learn to appreciate the fact that you had him in your life and that he had you in his, and that will never go away.

Your mother is right, we can't avoid bad things, if they're going to happen, they just will. And please, remember that even if you get another piggie to be with Frankie, you're not replacing Fudge at all

Thank you, that's exactly what I'm feeling like I just feel sick and can't really eat much everything's just going around in my head. If he had heart attack or a stroke like the vet said then wouldn't he have died straight away? And why did they say they would put him on oxygen because surely that wouldn't have done anything for him anyway if he did have a stroke/heart attack. I don't know if I'm over thinking things but it just seems abit weird and I can't stop thinking about it. I am definitely going to get Frankie a friend I think it's for the best x

You're indeed overthinking. And it's normal too, I went through that too (and I'm sure almost everyone, but I like to talk just for myself). I questioned everything, from what I did that day, the day before, what the vet did... absolutely everything and that only made me feel even sicker. The thing is that even if you did everything right, it could go wrong anyway. You and the vet did what you thought was best at that moment, you just thought about the well-being of Fudge, and that's what matters x

Thank you for your kind words, it's just really hard when you love someone so much and you would do absolutely anything for them and when they are not here anymore I you just feel empty and start thinking about it all I really do miss him so much. I adopted a baby today who I have named Freddie, i just hope fudge doesn't think I'm replacing him because I will never stop thinking about him and will always love him x

You're very welcome. And no, Fudge won't think anything like that! You're not moving on, you're doing what's best for Frankie, but you will never forget about Fudge, and you did everything that was on your hands to treat him as well as you could while he lived. Thanks to you he learnt what was being loved.
If you feel like talking more about it, no matter when it is, you can send me a message

:agr: Fudge won't think that at all.
You're not replacing him, you're simply helping Frankie as he would be lonely on his own.
Having more piggies doesn't mean you replace any who have passed away. You'll never forget Fudge

Thank you so much that really means a lot, thank you for your support at this difficult time x

I talk about you every day and tell everyone who never had the pleasure of meeting you, how wonderful you were and how much I love and miss you ❤️ I hope your popcorning with Jerry, Henry, Nazeem and pippin I know you and Jerry will be getting along, he was loving and caring just like you ❤️

I know it is really hard and grief is always so different and the waves come and go. He had a life of love remember that.
I think that always helps, he was very spoilt :) had loads of Christmas presents :) and if I ever replaced his nightly piece of cucumber with something else he'd was not impressed and he made sure I knew it lol he used to help me get through a bad day because I always used to think when I get home I can cuddle him. Bless him x
