We bought two female piggies (9 weeks old) just 4 days ago who have been together from birth and who had been vet checked. When we brought them home that very thurs eve we noticed one had like a scab/cut hidden beneath the fur on its right side above her leg. It was also a bit bald. Also another slight scratch looking mark above her nose. We thought she may have been hurt, scratched or nipped by the other in transit so kept an eye on it. The other piggie had a tiny dry skin patch on her back. It was hard to see as very dark fur. The seller told us one older guinea had got a bit rough with some of the younger ones so separated them. We messaged her and she said it could be a nip from that older guinea as they had been vet checked. However, the side patch now looks healed and just bald so presume hair needs time to grow back. We have discovered on that same guinea an angry looking red patch on her back that looks sore and balding a bit.
We have got some ring worm spray for the time being and treating them both until we get to the vet but hoping this spray may work.
I have posted pics (if I can) to see what anyone else thinks. Thanks for any help and we will seek medical advice I just wanted any initial opinions.
I should add they are both eating, running around (as still getting used to us) and I have not seen them scratching/itching at all One looks like her ear may have been nibbled by the other slightly so could be stress of moving and getting used to each other.

Ohh that looks nasty. Tbh it probably is ringworm. I’m no expert. Just need to see a vet :) Let you know how you get on.

Oh dear, the poor wee things. Terribly sorry to read your story. At 9 weeks old, their condition isn't great looking at those photos.
When you vet checked, are you saying the 'seller' did that for you or did you take your girls to the vets yourself?

I guess regardless I would have them checked by a cavy savvy vet i.e. an experience exotic vet. Do go ahead and add your location to profile, it does help when providing advice.

When you visit the vet you need to advise you have treated for ringworm and what you've actually treated them with, ideally take the bottle with you. I suspect if you have treated already it may well just be shop bought and therefore will be diluted version.

Good to see you using precautions with the loves, good idea - can't be too safe about these things.

Pigs are good at hiding illnesses and whilst young they will be bounding around however, don't be too over confident in this regard.

Diagnosis: hard to indicate really

Thanks for reply.
Yes it was shop bought as just wanted to hopefully help the healing process and all my children had a bug this week and been stuck in the house so no vets.
The seller had them all vet checked. They could have been harbouring it though and stress I believe can bring it on. I will seek proper treatment. The patch on the side already looks healed on the skin as it looked scabby originally so that's why initially we thought could be the fighting or nipping.

Hi I have moved your thread to the health and illness section which is monitored by a few of our more experienced members. I can only echo what was said above in that I would get a vet check to be sure of what you are dealing with
