Hello everybody
I’m desperately looking for advice. Two days ago my little girl got her test results back and it is showing that she got ringworm.
Our Vet prescribed for her medicine called Fungitraxx which unfortunately is out of stock till 2020 in most places ! I have been offered alternative medicine which cost £131 which I find very expensive. I can get prescription from my vet if only somehow I can find the medicine somewhere. I looked online but with no luck. Please do anybody know place it vet where I could buy this medicine? or any other good and effective medicine for ringworm for Guineapigs PLEASE? I would really appreciate your advice as my poor girls are very itchy and uncomfortable 😔
Thank you!

Hello - sorry you are going through this but you have come to the right place for help and support.

Firstly it would help us a lot if you could tell us roughly where you are based (country, country, state, etc).
This allows us to tailor our advice accordingly.

In the UK the vets prescribe Itrafungol or sporonox. These can both be bought online as long as you have a prescription

I’m based in London, my local Vet is Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital

You will be able to get Itrafungol from www.viovet.co.uk for about half of the price your vet quoted you.
Naturally you will need a prescription which you vet can't refuse to write, but can charge whatever they want (within reason) for.

Aside from the oral treatment, please make sure you take time to read the guide that @Swissgreys has linked above, as it explains what you need to do to protect yourself and also the deep cleaning regime to prevent a return of the ringworm.

Thank you very much! I will contact my vet and ask for the prescription ..hopefully there will be no problem to prescribe different medicine then what they already have ordered...
Just wondering why they didn’t offer me this medicine straight away rather got something not available or so expensive ...😔😔😔
