Last night, I lost both of my guinea pigs. I am still grieving and don’t know what to do but my guinea pigs were truly special and I feel that they deserve a tribute.
We have our guinea pigs in the garden and during the day we leave the cage door open so they can go outside for a run. We always kept an eye on them because of the cats and we always closed them up before it got dark because of the foxes.
I came home quite late and my mum told me that she was sorry but my parents had not put them inside on time and when they got outside they had searched everywhere but were unable to find them. They came to the conclusion that they had been taken by a fox. Of course I ran outside and within seconds found Brooke laying amongst the bushes with her gorgeous, long hair all over the floor. I screamed and cryed. I went to bed sobbing and am still crying, this morning. I think that Brooke was hiding when my parents had a look for her and a fox came back afterwards and found her. This makes me very angry as I am sure I could of saved her, she didn’t have to die.
I think it is my fault. If I hadn’t gone out, none of this would of happened. Bella still hasn’t been found and it is killing me that last time I saw her she was alive and happy. They were the cutest little guinea pigs and I don’t know what to do now.

If I get new ones I am worried they will never match up to Brooke and Bella. Any advice on what to do and how to get over this?

There’s nothing you really can do to get over it, just wait, and when you feel the time is right if you want to you can get some more piggies. I’m so sorry for your loss... There may still be hope in finding Bella though, don’t give up just yet. ❤️❤️❤️

Oh no, what a tragic accident. I am so very sorry for your losses. Sadly grief is a painful thing and it will take you time to get over it.

Please be kind.to yourself. But if you are to get another pair of piggies in the future, please only put them in a safe and secure run for run time xx

I’m so sorry for you loss
It must have been heartbreaking to find your little piggie like that, I’m heartbroken for you they were obviously very special to you,

Grieving is a hard process and you’ll find yourself blaming yourself and think of the what if’s.

Hopefully it was over very quickly for both your Piggies and they wouldn’t have been suffering for long x

I’m so sorry for your loss. Try to remember them both healthy and happy. It’s heartbreaking to lose them like this, but if you can learn something from this that will help keep future piggies healthy and safe then that’s a positive. If you do plan to keep future piggies then it would be worth investing in a predator proof enclosed run, so that even if they aren’t shut in on time they will be safe from cats, foxes, birds of prey etc.

So sorry for your loss, it was such an awful shock for you to come home to.
Piggies really need to go in run on the lawn which has a lid which can be secured, they do fall prey to cats, dogs, Foxes and even stoats and weasels. They can take flight from loud noises which can send them out of your garden in panic too.

So sorry for your loss. This must have been a shock. There could be hope in finding Bella, she could just be hiding.
We had chickens attacked by a fox, 2 were killed, but we found Joanie the third one hidden.
Be kind to yourself.
Sending you hugs. xx

I am really so very sorry for the loss of your piggies. The end of a life is not representative of the life lived please remember that, your piggies were so very well loved. I am really sorry

Sleep well little ones
