I'm heartbroken, had to have my sweet darling George PTS this morning. He seemed a bit quiet yesterday evening, but he was still eating, but this morning he did not come out for his food and was hiding at the back of the cage, so I took him to the vet straight away. In the waiting room he started opening his mouth wide with every breath. The vet found a large amount of blood around his lungs, caused by an inoperable heart tumor. The route to least suffering was to let him go. I feel so sad, I loved that little fellow, he was so gentle. I am shocked at how quickly he became ill and wonder if he was in pain or discomfort for some time, but hiding it. I will post a little tribute to him later. Just wanted to share with people who understand. Need to return to work now.

I am so sorry for your loss, you acted very quickly. Don't torture yourself about was he was in pain, you'll never know, they hide there symptoms so well. My thoughts are with you:luv:
Sleep tight George,
Free to popcorn over the rainbow bridge.

I am so sorry, massive hugs to you. I know it is hard to PTS but honestly you did the right thing for him, I know it hurts but you showed you loved him right to the end, he had an amazing life with you. x x

Sleep well little one

RIP George

I'm very sorry for your loss, whilst it's the hardest decision to make, it's the kindest and you did the right thing.

RIP George and hugs to you xx

Thanks everyone. I feel so so sad, I felt so attached to him. I feel sad for Lily too, she is hiding behing the fleece forest but has eaten some veggies. Seems so quiet without his rumblestrutting.
