I just wanted to pay my respects here to my 3 piggies who passed away this year. It might sound weird, but I'm almost in tears typing this...:(

This first picture is off a mobile phone - sadly the only pic we ever really took of Gin, which I deeply regret. Gin is one of the Guinea pigs I had taken in due to my friend's little brother not looking after him properly. He had very severe wry neck which the Veterinary Surgeon couldn't cure. The ear infection was too 'deep'. He was such a grumpy little piggie, bit he was great; although he wasn't a huge fan of being held. I still feel guilty over the fact I didn't hold him much (although my other family did). I felt uncomfortable at the time holding such a wriggly Guinea pig...:(

(Gin is the black piggie peeping out from under the blanket)

Alba...He was such a little soldier. He was always happy to be held and so randy. Haha! I still feel so guilty over his death. I knew there was something wrong with him, it was about 1 in the morning when I noticed he didn't seem right, I held him for a while and I thought to myself, "If he doesn't pick up in a few hours I'll have to see if I can take him to the vets". I fell asleep for a while and woke up at around 8 am and glanced into the cage, I could see Alba's little mohawk so I assumed that he was okay and I fell back asleep again pretty quick. Then I woke up again at around 11am, got up and did my normal routine. Suddenly, one of my other Guinea pigs began squeaking loudly so I went to see what was wrong. I glanced down near the water bottle and noticed that Alba was completely motionless, in my head I knew he was dead, but I didn't want to believe it; so I prodded him. I had to sit down and breath for a moment to take it in until I could think clearly. I just feel so guilty over it and I'll never live it down. I'm so sorry, Alba.

(I can remember when he had an abscess and had to have an operation to get rid of it; the Veterinary Surgeon told me that he's lucky to be alive and nicknamed him 'Wonder Pig'. <3)

Lastly, little RoboCop (Robo for short)...Similarly with what happened with Alba, I knew something was wrong, and again it was very late at night. I noticed when I picked him up that he wasn't chattering to me, which was very unusual for him. I gave him to my other half to watch over for a few hours since we don't have a nearby vet that do out-of-hours appointments. I went to bed after working all day, and woke up at about 8am, and noticed that Robo looked...different. I can't describe it, really. I went to stroke him and he just literally fell over. I picked him up and even though he was alive, it already felt as though his body was going into rigor mortis, I knew he was dying. It was absolutely heart breaking; I really didn't know what to do. He held on for 5 hours...The only thing I'm thankful for is that I was there for him in his last moments, and I tried to make it as comfortable for him as possible...I still cry about it now...He was another piggie I took in from the same person I got Gin from. He was so sweet, he loved everyone...even though his previous owner constantly dropped him down the stairs. :(

Not weird at all hun. Your babies were obviously very much loved, something which I'm sure they knew very well.
You have nothing to feel guilty about. You obviously cared for them well and loved them loads. We all hope against hope that our piggies will improve when they're ill but sadly it doesn't always happen.
Let go of your misplaced guilt and relax. Draw on your happy memories and remember your beautiful piggies as they were.
You have written a beautiful tribute to them.
RIP Gin, Alba and Robo. Popcorn free at the Bridge x x

Thank you so much for your kind words...It's just that not a lot of people understand the pain people go through after losing a piggie...it's like they think it's not the same as losing a cat or a dog. But it doesn't matter what animal you have as a pet/friend, the grief is still the same after loss. :(

So sorry for your loses.
RIP little Gin, Alba and Robo
