So me and my OH went out to see a girl about a guinea pig, quite literally. She said she was giving away some swiss guinea pigs after an accidental breeding, so me and my girlfriend, after careful consideration, decided to help the girl out! When we got to the house there were alarm bells ringing in our heads, she owned two dogs, there was wee all over the floor, hair all over the counters in the kitchen. She led us through to a back room and revealed the most lovely looking swiss piggies I have ever seen but it was a heartbreaking sight! Three were white, one of the white ones had a chunk missing from his back, all their poos were a bit runny and one of the other tricoloured guineas had a lump on his hind leg that felt like some kind of water retention. We eended up getting into conversation with her and she said that she was breeding them, the ones she had out ranged from 2 months to two years ! she also mentioned something about getting the bunch she was showing us from another breeder. We never got to see where they were actually living but she came across as not knowing how to sex them herself and also knowing very little about a guineas basic diet she also mentioned having more guinea pigs outside, all of the piggies she showed us were covered in mud as well :/ Me and my OH took one away regardless, she gave him to us for free because she 'didn't need him' he was the healthiest little boy out of the few she showed us. He is now very healthy and we have named him Oreo to fit in with Rolo and Twix :D he lives next door to Rolo and as soon as we had set him up in his new home we reported the breeder to the RSPCA we havent heard back from them yet but they assured us they would check it out! It was so sad to see but I'm so happy we got little oreo who has made a full recovery in the last week or so. Just thought I would let people know that there (hopefully) is going to be one less breeder knocking around ! Also this works as an example, look out for the breeders and dont let them suck you in with sneaky lies !

Awww, well done you. I hope Oreo continues to blossom under your care. And fingers crossed they deal with this person.

No doubt we'll get pigtures when ready...

Oh gosh how awful of her to keep animals in such conditions. Well done on reporting her. I hope little Oreo settles into his new home.

yes here is my little boy Oreo (: cuddling up in some cushions on my bed ^^

this is the only pigture I have of him at the moment, dont want to disrupt him too much after his ordeal, I dread to think what he may of gone through with that breeder :S we think he may of been overcrowded but we have no evidence for it so hopefully it wasn't as bad as my imagination likes to think !

we still havent heard back from the RSPCA but I will let everyone know when we do! ... yes Oreo is lovely he is so gentle. He isn't timid at all when we hold him, of course when he is in his cage he still bolts when we try to pick him up but once on our lap he is a friendly little fellow! He seems to have settled in well so far and has made friends with Rolo so hopefully on my day off on thursday this week I will try to intergrate him in with Rolo and see how they go! hehe!
