Hi everyone!
I know this is a stupid question but can guinea pigs eat romaine lettuce hearts? I bought a pack yesterday for making salads and I'm wondering if they can eat it. I know that they can eat romaine lettuce but I bought romaine lettuce hearts. And if they can eat romaine lettuce hearts, how much can they eat every week?
Thanks!

It’s the same thing. The ones they sell as ‘hearts’ just have the tougher (and often dirtier) outer leaves already removed

Romaine lettuce hearts are the same thing as romaine lettuce, just not chopped up and bagged. Romaine lettuce is a veg guinea pigs can have daily if they are used to it. If you dont want to feed it daily you should feed 3 times a week. Also no matter if you feed daily or 3 times a week romaine lettuce should be fed in small portions as it is watery and doesnt have alot of nutrition.

Is that just the middle bit? I think they could eat it but it might be a bit watery and not have many nutrients... mine normally just get half a big leaf of the greener romaine outside leaves each... the greener bits have more nutrients in.

By the way, (just for extra info). From my experiance romaine lettuce tends to go bad quickly, to keep it fresh for longer i chop romaine lettuce up (if it isnt already) and store it in ziploc bags in the fridge and this works to keep it fresh.
