A video of my Husband stroking Ronnie the guinea pig. Notice the Brrrrr noise he makes when you touch him lol! And that look in his eye like hes thinking "mmmmm I dont know whether to trust you or not"! LOL!

It was really odd when we first got him as he kept doing that noise whenever you touched him, wonder if he was just nervous as we have not had him long and hes only a young boy.

He has got better though and he is warming to us alot better now x

is that noise discontentment then?

I am never sure what to make of this noise, mine used to it when I tickled her side, but then she would almost roll over on her side to let me tickle her more & stretch out her legs lol :)) It can't be dislike as such, more like "Gerroff" :))

I noticed Daisy did it earlier, she is in the habit of climbing onto the hammock then flopping out whilst her Mum tries to knock her off from below rolleyes so I stroked her side & she made that noise then lol

Huummm, i initially thought it was that they were scared or angry but I did read somewhere that they also rumble when they are really enjoying something...sometimes when Dottie is enjoying a stroke in the cage she will be completely stretched out, chicken legs poking out, clearly enjoying it, but she will rumble too every time I stroke her. I'm sure Suzy once said that it's like the piggy is completely indulging themselves in being stroked...

Rumbeling is a happier noise and they sway their hips. The brr noise is more like fear of something or unhappy with something.

oh dear romeo does it a lot when i hold him! he looks so content too, i am feeling a failure now, as have worked hard to make him feel settled . :(

Please dont feel bad. It took two years before Amelia Jane would stop making this noise with me and not mind being held. They are all different and it is not your fault at all.

I'm not sure what to make of the sound if I'm honest, when we stroke Ronnie he doesnt appear to be hating the fact we are stroking him and if you do touch him in a way he doesnt like he soon runs off lol!
I think at the moment he is just kind of getting used to us and is gradually learning to trust. x

I would say it's a way of them saying "That tickles!" rather than of fear or upset :)) ours also do it if we rattle our keys lol

That is because the noise scares them!

Well they aren't that scared, they don't run or anything, it's more like a brrr of annoyance rolleyes

I think that if they do that when you stroke them when they are in their cage, if they really do hate it they will run away :)

They look so soft, thanks for sharing.

i have listened to the link on here of piggy noises, and i believe that romeo is actually purring, so i am relieved that he is nt worried, the sounds are very similar though x

I agree, we have one cuddly one and one fussy blighter who stills makes that noise sometimes

I thought that was purring also drool
My little randy does the same, then popcorns whilst I'm stroking him, then lays on his side and popcorns whilst purring :)

Its funny you say that as if I ever drop anything on the wooden floor he does a similar noise like brrrrr but sounds abit more agressive lol x
