I have space in the garden for a new plant. Roses do particularly well in our soil.

Misu and her crew love to munch on rose petals as a treat. There is a tasty pink rose bush at the end of garden (humans not sure on the type,no pesticides are used). They are not so keen on an orange rose called Flower Power. Pink Fairy is tasty, but only to some piggies.

Do any piggies have recommendations on the tastiest roses?

I honestly don't know any types of roses by name. I just know that they love them. I've got two red rose bushes in my yard, and in the spring and summer I'll pick the roses and feed them to my piggies. Have you ever tried giving your guinea pigs rose hips? :)

Rose petals are very sweet. They can eat as a treat, and they are often in dried forage mixes. Like with any food, some piggies like rose petals, others don't.

For fresh petals, you can't give those bought from shops as they will contain pesticides and other things not fit for human or piggie consumption.

I've not tried rosehips.

I haven't. I do know that when people use rose hips for themselves it's painstaking work because there are things in the rose hips which cause itchiness - I've read it's the seeds and I've read it's tiny hairs, so I don't know which is right but I wouldn't want to potentially cause a guinea any harm. Maybe somebody else knows whether the itchiness is 'true'.

The rose petals my piggies eat are from my yard; the rose hips are from Guinea Dad and don't seem to include any seeds or hairs. Though, I don't know whether they would cause harm to the piggies if they were included.

OK, I didn't realise you could buy them, I figured you were picking your own and giving them to the guineas straight off the bush. I'm sure a guinea-knowledgeable company selling them has it all worked out. Could be there isn't a problem when they're properly dried.
