My male nearly 4 year old guinea pig seemed to be trying to eat but couldn’t bite into anything. So I picked him up to look at him, which is when I felt he was extremely skinny. I had not noticed before since he doesn’t like being handled and his fur makes him look perfectly fine. We checked his teeth and they seemed gray and like they had black behind them. I’m pretty sure they really hurt when he uses them. The vet is closed for the night but we are calling in the morning. We made a purée out of cucumber and he did some eat that luckily. I also mushed up some pellets but I think he’s full for now so won’t eat that.

Oh no I'm sorry to hear this please continue trying to feed him until your vet visit. Do you have a small syringe? 😥

I’m sorry to hear this.

Please urgently switch from the routine weekly weight checks and instead weigh him daily, first thing in the mornings. This is the only way to monitor hay intake to ensure he is eating enough hay to keep his weight stable.
While it’s good you got something into him, mushed cucumber is not the fibre his gut needs. He does need mushed pellets or ideally proper recovery feed as it is the fibre his gut needs.

You will need to feed him every couple of hours and give him 60ml of syringe feed per day but he needs as much per day as it takes to stop him from losing weight each day.

Please do get him to the vet urgently.

I have added all our emergency and syringe feeding guides below to help you further

The vet gave me critical care and a syringe. I’ve only fed him once since he hasn’t been home long, and at first he wanted to eat but after about half the amount he seemed done. Should I force him to eat the entire amount the vet gave, or let him be done when he is done?

You feed him as much as he will take at each sitting - it can be anything up to 15ml or so that a piggy will take at each sitting (generally the less they take the more unwell they are and be more often you will need to feed during the day). You then feed him every couple of hours.
He needs as much per 24 hour period as is necessary to stop further weight loss and to keep his weight stable each day. You aim for 60ml per day but you may need to give more than that if he loses weight when you weigh him each morning

All the guides I linked in on my previous reply explain syringe feeding in more depth
