Hi All,

Ive had my girls for a couple of weeks now, the routine has been the same every single day since i got them, they dont seem to get “excited” when its time for treats, i see other piggie owners talk about how incredibly excited and vocal their piggies get when its snack time, whereas my girls dont seem excited and still run and hide anytime I'm in the room.
Is there hope that over time they might start to become happy/excited at the sight of me knowing they are about to get food/treats.

Morning, it can take several weeks or longer for your babies to settle, they will in their own time, offer a bit of romaine lettuce and gently talk to them, one day they will be squeaking and you’ll be surprised,
 
2 weeks is really not very long for prey animals to get settled. They are in a new environment and everything is still very scary for them. They don't know they're not going to be eaten every time you go near them, you have to teach then that. To them you are a big smelly, noisy predator.

Imagine if you'd been taken from the only home you'd ever known and put somewhere new where there is a giant who walks into your room you'd run away pretty quickly too. You'd only stop running away once you realised that this giant meant you no harm. Your guinea pigs are the same.

Give them time to come around. You need lots of patience with guinea pigs. Sometimes it can take a few weeks sometimes a lot longer. Piggies are not the animated cuddly toys they are made out to be.

Looking forward to the day they trust me, this will be their forever home, plenty of patience, time and attention will be given
 
It takes time - weeks, months, years in some cases.
My most confident boy stopped hiding when I entered their shed after about six weeks and started taking food from me. My most nervous boy hid from me for a year and a half and didn’t take food from me for all that time.
 
Time and patience are needed.
It took Phoebe nearly 6 months to stop running away from me.
As she settled and grew more confident she would happily take food from me.
However, she never liked being held throughout her life.
