I am quite sad at the momment my sisters friends where i got summer and jasmine for is thinking about breeding her sow again....i am worried about the health of her sow as she has already had two litters and well her sow must be well over a year old as jasmine is over a year old and summer was born a few months after wouldnt there be complications for this sow? she said its "fun" to breed them! i am so upset and agry at her at the momment. i dont know what to do. :(:0:(
 
If the sow has had a litter before she's 10-12 months old then she can carry on having litters once she's past a year. I'm not saying she SHOULD - or condoning it, just saying it's not like she's not had a litter and is over a year old, when it's much more risky.

Can you not introduce her to the forum and show her how many hundreds of pigs bred 'for fun' are in rescue at the moment?

All pregnancies carry a risk, animal and human - is she prepared to risk the sow?

Baby pigs are fun - but having them without thinking about what it will do to mum and where the babies are going to end up, is thoughtless? egotistical?

I can understand the dilemma you're in; it always worse when it's people you know well! Sophiew has a point - but I'm not so sure your friend will do it!
 
she was struggling when i took jasmine and summer....thats why i took them and now she wants to breed her sow again for fun thats just sooo wrong.
 
I agree - and I'm sure that you have reminded her that she struggled then. But memory is soo selective, isn't ?
 
yea i agree hun she is doing it because a friend want a couple i think she is being silly and putting her sow in danger for doing so xx
 
Some people ! And there is nothing you can do to stop her... not if she sets her heart on it.

nothing i can do I'm afriad she is a groen lady and if she wants to risk it she will "just for fun" it wont be much fun if there is complications !
 
Completely agree - it's soooo frustrating!
