Hi there just looking for some help please I have 4 Guinea pigs for around a month now so I’m new to all this but I was wondering about grass from my garden.. I know dog pee is deadly for piggy’s I’m almost certain there hasn’t been any dogs in my garden bar my sisters dog around 2/3 weeks ago (he is never really over much at all) but I know there is lots of cats around… I was wondering is it safe to wash some grass for my piggy’s? And are dandelions & daisys safe? I was going to try and grow my own but since there is some already in garden I’m just curious many thanks 🙏🏻 x
 
As long as the dog hasnt been on it recently, it’s rained/been cut/pee isn’t fresh then they can have grass.
Dandelions are fine but not in huge quantities as they are higher in calcium.
I think if they are in a run on the lawn and they eat the odd daisy themselves then thats ok but I don’t think too many are good for them. Therefore if you’re picking grass, I would avoid the daisies.

Hi, I have a similar question. We have 4 baby guinea pigs (14 weeks) and want to put them on our lawn, but we have a lot of celandine in our grass. Will they eat around it and leave the celandine and daisies or are they likely to eat the toxic plants too? We really want them to experience the grass and live happily outside, but if it'll harm them they will have to stay on the decking.

Please don’t put them on the grass where there are toxic items.
 
I was going to post a similar thread, as I have discovered several patches of buttercups coming up in our back garden. What is a good lawn treatment to use to manage unwanted weeds that aren't piggy safe?

I think any weed and feed type product is fine.
(making sure to do 3 or 4 cuts after treatment before letting the piggies back on it)
 
i've picked grass before and washed it as we get lots of cats wandering in our garden, along with foxes and a badger! I grew some last year indoors in a little tray and it was great knowing it was 100% safe
