Hi all,

I've seen this has been mentioned before but I can't find a definitive answer (if there is one!)...

I like to use scented candles and burn oils (some 'proper' aromatherapy oils, some just perfume oils) but would like to know whether or not this could adversely affect my guinea pig.

I know the jury's out on using oils on GP's skin, but is burning safe? And scented candles?

Any thoughts please?
Thanks :)

Personally I tend not to use anything in the same room as the pigs, be it fragrances or candles. Their noses are a lot more sensitive to smell than ours. However if the room is big enough there's unlikely to be any negative effects for Yossi if you burn the candles at the other end of the room to him. :)

Thanks Laura :)

Yossi's cage is in the living room at the moment (and will be there for as long as I can get my way!). That's where I'd usually burn the candles/oils but it's a small room so I'll have to use them elsewhere instead.

I wonder if food smells upset them too? My house is very small so the kitchen is also in close proximity to his cage. Until I win the lottery and can afford a mansion I guess he'll have to put up with my bad cooking, as everyone else does!
